I studied a BSc Agric at the University of Stellenbosch.
My two major subjects were Horticulture and plant pathology.
Other subjects included soil science, entomology and other BSc subjects such as chemistry, physics, mathematics, biology, biometry and computer skills.
I started dairy farming with my parents at the beginning of 2007 on our farm in Kokstad.
I have since travelled to New Zealand and Australia to look at how things are done across there.
My cousin and I were privileged to stay with Basil Doonan and his family in Tasmania for 2 weeks in March 2008. He kindly organised a farm tour for us on which we visited one or two farms a day for 10 days.
I brought some of those ideas back which have since been integrated into our system.
