Prof Lourens Erasmus
~ Dr Lourens Erasmus is an Associate Professor at the Department of Animal and Wildlife Sciences at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. He is responsible for teaching Dairy and Beef Cattle Nutrition and management courses. His research focuses on supplementary feed additives and their interactions, protein and amino acid nutrition of dairy cows, feeding by-products and the practical application of metabolic models.
Prior to joining the University of Pretoria he was a specialist researcher at the Agricultural Research Council where he managed the dairy cattle nutrition research programme. Professor Erasmus has been recognised by the feed industry for his research contributions which include the Barney van Niekerk/AFMA Technical Person of the year award and the Silver Medal from the South African Society of Animal Science. He received his PhD from the University of Pretoria.
